Throughout August, I’ll be sharing tips and techniques I use to help me center and feel better in about 5 minutes or less!
For the past few years, I’ve had a routine that I do every morning before I get out of bed. It has morphed and changed over time. I add something here, take out something there based on new things I’m learning, where I’m at within myself and what feels right for me. The parts within it may change, but me doing it doesn’t.
My morning ritual is a whole mix of things. It’s a reminder, a reaffirming that I am more than my physical body. It’s owning my divinity. It’s a reminder that I am the co-creator of my reality. It’s saying hi to the people and beings in my life. It’s sending and receiving love. It’s setting intentions for my day. It’s affirmations. It’s adding light to the world. It helps me center and start creating the kind of day I want to have – an amazing day!
Right now, my ritual goes like this:
Good morning God, thank you for another beautiful day and the opportunity to be you, being me, being you!
I salute the divinity in myself. I am strong and able. I can do all that I need to do this day. My mind is alert, my body vital and healthy and my way will be strewn with golden opportunities. And no matter what this day will bring to me, there is that in me that is great enough to meet it, overcome it and be blessed by it. (from Discover The Power Within You by Eric Butterworth)
Good morning to my posse! I send you, my family, my friends and my loved ones all unconditional love from my heart to yours. I also send love to Mother Earth and Mother Nature and to everyone on the planet. May they be open to receiving that love, may they feel it and may they know that they are loved. I also send unconditional love out in all directions of time and space.
Depending on how I feel when I wake up, how the ritual feels to me can change. If I’m feeling down, uneasy or unsettled, it calms and soothes me. If I’m doubting myself or unsure of something, it feels reassuring, supportive and encouraging. And if I wake up ready to conquer the world, it feels like my own personal cheerleader!
