I want to share this quote I saw recently that has really impacted me!
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
– Hunter S. Thompson
While I’m not on board with putting my physical body through the wringer from the cradle to the grave, I totally appreciate the spirit of what he’s saying. At the end of your life, you don’t want to look back and realize you played it safe, stayed inside your comfort zone.
The quote sent a thrill through me and sparked something inside! It’s got me thinking about what I’m doing in my life right now. In what areas am I happy and what areas am I not? Where am I spreading my wings and where am I playing it safe?
Because none of us came here to play it safe. We came here to remember and play with our power – stretching our wings; going for our dreams and heart’s desires; coloring outside the lines; stepping outside the box; being our authentic, unique selves and seeing how big and/or how far we can take it in a lifetime… this lifetime.
That means putting your heart out there, following what feels right for you, going for your dreams and heart’s desires. And regardless of what the outcome is – if it’s what you wanted, or something more or something less, if it brings you joy or ends in sadness – you know you went for it. And there’s a satisfaction in that that you’ll never feel if you stayed in your comfort zone and didn’t even try.
As you’ve read this, do you feel that energy? Do you feel an excitement, can you feel the possibilities? That’s your soul calling to you, beckoning you forward, into your power. You’re aligning with your soul and that always feels good! Keep following that feeling and at the end of your life, you’ll look back and say “Wow! What a ride”!
